In honor of International Women’s Day last week, here are 5 Memoirs of Raging Feminists. By raging feminist, I mean those rare women that are more than happy to get out in front and talk about things that need to be talked about, even when they know it will incur the rage of the men around them. I admire the work they do and that they make me feel like a total coward.
In some ways and on some days I wish I could be more like them, willing to take on more hate to push forward and get the job done. Most of the time I’m just greatful for them and their insights into a world I had been all too willing to take for granted and not see the problems in. I had been fine with just playing the game as it was and they inspired me to throw it out and try to make a new one on my terms.
Here they are:
- Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling
- Shrill by Lindy West
- How to be a Woman by Caitlin Moran
- Sex Object by Jessica Valenti
- Yes Please by Amy Poehler
