Anya’s Ghost by Vera Brosgol

Review:

Anya's Ghost - Vera BrosgolI wasn’t really sure what I was getting into when I picked this one up, but it was a lot of fun! I had found it while searching for a comic for the Read Harder Challenge and it doesn’t even fit the category that I was trying to fit it into, but it was worth the read anyway!

Anya could really use a friend. But her new BFF isn’t kidding about the “forever” part . . .
Of all the things Anya expected to find at the bottom of an old well, a new friend was not one of them. Especially not a new friend who’s been dead for a century.
Falling down a well is bad enough, but Anya’s normal life might actually be worse. She’s embarrassed by her family, self-conscious about her body, and she’s pretty much given up on fitting in at school. A new friend―even a ghost―is just what she needs.
Or so she thinks.
Spooky, sardonic, and secretly sincere, Anya’s Ghost is a wonderfully entertaining debut graphic novel from author/artist Vera Brosgol.

There’s just so much here. It’s a perfect stand-alone story about some pretty standard YA or girl issues (boys go through it too but my point is that I hope we’ve all learned better by college). I liked the issues that it dealt with and the way it dealt with them and our antagonist was a lot fun.

I read a copy from Scribd, but it’s available for purchase at Amazon and  the Book Depository.
